Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected under the skin. They help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat which causes our facial muscles to work closer to the skins surface. This causes smile lines, crows feet and other signs of age to become more apparent. The facial skin also stretches as we age, adding to the loss of volume in the face.

Q: What can Dermal Fillers do for my appearance?

A: Dermal Fillers can plump lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, improve the appearance of recessed scarring, reconstruct contour deformities in the face, decrease or remove shadows of the lower lids, add volume and a "plump" appearance back into again skin.

Restylane

  • Restylane is a brand of hyaluronic acid-based fillers that help smooth wrinkles and plump your face and lips. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, especially in connective tissue. Restylane's unique formula is made to mimic the hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in our skin giving us back that full, voluminous facial structure.

  • Once injected, Restylane typically lasts 6-12 months depending on the area that is injected. Treatment sessions are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour, with results being seen almost immediately following treatment.

  • Restylane is has been FDA Approved since 2003. It is NOT approved for patients under the age of 21. Common side affects may include light bruising, swelling, mild pain, itching at the injection site and headache.

Versa

  • Versa, manufactured by the company Revanesse, is a hyaluronic acid based filler developed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Although Versa is comparable to other HA dermal fillers, there are some characteristics that make it unique and may influence your decision to try one over the other.

  • The key factor that makes Versa different from other HA dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane, is its nearly non-existent post injection swelling. Versa has been shown to produce 24% less swelling than competing fillers. At Infuse our injection specialist loves this quality because it makes volume correction more precise and balanced, as they do not need to account for what is skin swelling and what is the actual product, especially when it comes to delicate areas like the under eye area.

  • On a molecular level, Versa has tiny, spherical particle structure which gives it a very smooth quality which yields a more natural looking result. Versa is manufactured with premium quality hyaluronic acid and has a higher molecular weight than other HA fillers which may result in longer-lasting results. Results of Versa typically last 9-12 months depending on the area that is treated.

  • Versa has been FDA approved in the United States since 2017 and is not approved for patients under the age of 21.Common side affects may include light bruising, swelling, mild pain, itching at the injection site and headache.
