Wrinkle Relaxers
(Neuromodulators)

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin – commercially known as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomim – that are used to treat wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet. A minute amount of the neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying muscle, causing it to relax and gradually smooth out the appearance of the overlying skin. The effects typically last about three to four months.

Botox®

Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that can improve the appearance of dynamic expression lines and wrinkles by causing relaxation of the facial muscles. Here at Infuse we use Botox to treat a wide variety of cosmetic and medical concerns including, but not limited to; aging skin, crows feet, excessive sweating, frown lines and forehead furrows, sagging skin and wrinkles.

Patients can typically see results of Botox® Cosmetic within 10-14 days.

Xeomin

XEOMIN is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults for a temporary amount of time. Xeomin and Botox both contain Botulinum Toxin Type A (a neurotoxin that blocks muscle contractions and relaxes the skin).

Patients typically see results of Xeomin in 7-14 days.

Q: What is the difference between Xeomin and Botox?

A: Xeomin contains a "naked" form of botulinum toxin. Unlike Botox, which contains accessory proteins, Xeomin is deigned to deliver the toxin without any protein additives. The purified structure may help prevent antibody resistance, which is a growing issue that has been seen with Neuromodulator injections over long periods of time.

Dysport

Dysport is another form of botulinum toxin that is gaining notoriety for its beautiful results in correcting frown lines. Like Botox and Xeomin, Dysport is a form of botulinum toxin that is injected into facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox and Dysport have the same primary active ingredient, but different proteins in Dysport allows it to diffuse further overtime.

Some people have experienced quicker results with Dysport, noticing a reduction in wrinkles in only 2-3 days. The results of Botox generally take around a week to appear, but both injectables reveal their peak results at around 2 weeks. When looking at how long the results last, both Dysport and Botox last around 3-4 months.

A single unit of Botox has about 3 times the potency of a unit of Dysport. This doesn’t mean that Botox works better, but rather that more Dysport is needed to achieve the same effect. As a trade-off, the price of a Dysport unit is less than that of a Botox unit, so you’ll spend about the same amount of money to achieve similar results.
